Die Konzentrationslager Kantate

This is a part of music for a play by George Tabori, "Jubilee", written for a group of predominantly male voices with piano accompaniment.

Before you start complaining about the lyrics, read up on what the play is about (and the person who wrote the lyrics).

I am pretty happy how this turned out, as my experience is that people will hum this tune whether they want it or not, and that is exactly what I envisioned when I wrote the piece. The idea is to make the audience feel uncomfortable with the harsh lyrics, while at the same time being affected by the jaunty tune.

Notice how the harmony of the piece tries to enforce these feelings without being too blatant about ir.

If you cannot see the score, get the Sibelius Scorch plug-in here.
