Ranee
My aunt died in January 2010, and the pieces I've written about that are all shredded; they were too sombre. Now this piece is a lot more upbeat, as it should be, because it is essentially about her little nephew.
It turns out to be a playful children's song.
The Latin beat suggests a dance, and the harmony is not too difficult, though the piece is, due to the rhythmic complexity and the many voices taking over the lead and stating various little themes. The reprise changes the key from Db major to Bb major.
