MuziekAtelier Project: big performance
The members of the "MuziekAtelier"-project did an excellent job in performing in a big show on the 28th of June. This community art/TOTO-project was concluded for this season with a show with professional sound and light in a big venue.
It was a very exciting evening for the participants, none of whom are professionals in this field, yet they performed for a crowd and gave them a great show. Arrangements for choir of such songs as "Fame," "Lean on Me" and "You've Got a Friend" were alternated with Dutch songs like "Tearoom Tango" and "Mensch, Durf te Leven."
The show started with songs for which all the participants could choose to play a part - rockers, cowboys, elite visitors in a lunch room, which was built on stage, complete with palm trees, tables and a pianist on a grand piano, but the songs got more serious in the end, and so they had to shed their masks and stage clothing and show the real person underneath. This was exactly what the show was all about: showing that we all play a part in real life, as well as on stage, and that it can be hard showing the real person underneath. That requires courage!
Some people deserve a special mention, because they played drums, guitar, bass and percussion, although some of them had never touched an instrument before we started the project. Well done to Amanda, Tjeerd, Ronald en Bert!
