Intro music for play "Senioren!"
"Senioren!" is a musical play by senior citizens I am directing at the moment. I have already blogged about the teaser we did to get participants for this project, but we are now in a later stage, and we're almost ready for opening night.
The main theme of the play is nicely put in the subtitle which reads, translated, "Life has made me to what I am today," and this is what the actors are saying in the MP3 you can find below this article. So, this is the intro music to the play: when it starts, the actors go on stage and sit down; the music the audience hears is also the music with which the play ends, "Er Is Een Land," which you can find here.
In this case, a string trio is used in addition to the piano, although I doubt that live strings will ever be used. Once that section if finished, a (hopefully) totally unexpected heavy beat starts, which is the first real song in the play: an adaptation of "My Generation" by The Who. It is our hope that the contrast between moods and energy will surprise a lot of people, so that we immediately draw the audience into the play.
